The successful applicant will have their fees covered while they undertake their NCTJ Diploma in Multimedia Sports Journalism at News Associates, with the option of studying in either London or Manchester, from September 2, 2019.
News Associates was recognised last December as the UK’s number one NCTJ-accredited journalism school for the fourth consecutive year, with successful graduates now working on the sports desks of national newspapers, agencies, broadcasters and in content roles with sports teams and national governing bodies.
Our sports journalism course is the number one NCTJ journalism course of any kind in the UK. Have a look at the league tables here.
At the conclusion of their studies the successful candidate will be offered a full-time four-month contract at national press agency Sportsbeat, commencing May 2020 based in London.
Sportsbeat and News Associates managing editor James Toney said: “We are delighted to be working with the Sports Journalists’ Association on this unique opportunity, underlining our commitment to supporting candidates from diverse backgrounds in breaking into careers in sports media.”
SJA co-chair Janine Self said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to give a helping hand to someone from a diverse background. We are very pleased to be working with News Associates and Sportsbeat.”
