News Associates launches online publications to cover whole of London
News Associates has launched three new online publications to cover news, entertainment and sport across every corner of London.
South East Londoner, North East Londoner and North West Londoner are the sister websites of South West Londoner and Mancunian Matters, our original in-house publications covering London and Manchester.
These platforms provide the perfect space for our undergraduate and postgraduate trainees to demonstrate their multimedia reporting skills with written stories, videos, podcasts and more.
The new websites launched with 24/7 coverage of the local elections in May 2022, and News Associates trainees travelled far and wide to cover every single election count in London.
London head of journalism and editor Graham Moody said: “Our new portfolio of sites covering every London borough shows our belief that local journalism is important and we need to make sure that communities throughout the capital are getting represented.
“Too many areas are not served by a local newspaper and vital issues are getting ignored. We want to change that.
“It’s a fantastic chance for our trainees to expand their portfolios and also cover the areas they live in across video, podcast and social media.
“We are very excited for what we can achieve here and looking forward to growing the new sites to the same popularity and respect South West Londoner has reached.”

The new websites are accompanied by social media coverage across Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Journalism tutor and deputy editor Tom Holmes said: “The launch of our three new online publications is an extremely exciting opportunity, both for us as a business and for our trainees.
“It essentially makes the entirety of London their patch, which opens up a whole new world of stories for them to cover.
“Local journalism is extremely important now more than ever, and for us to be able to invest in local journalism is extremely exciting.
“We really hope that these new sites can be a success and give our trainees new platforms to tell their stories, as well as giving new areas the coverage they need.”
The best way to learn how to become a journalist is by doing it, which is why we provide our trainees the opportunity to write for our professional online publications from day one of their NCTJ-accredited course.
