NEWS Associates is home to one of the UK’s busiest press agencies and our unique NCTJ journalism courses are set against the backdrop of a hectic working newsroom.
We take pride in our award-winning training - and have worked hard to become Britain's biggest and best NCTJ journalism training school.
The national pass rate for the NCTJ Pre-Entry Certificate and NCTJ Diploma in Multimedia Journalism (the latter became the industry standard in September 2011), in 2010/2011 was 31%.
At News Associates our combined pass rate across London and Manchester centres for our fast track courses was 75.2%.
Of the 363 trainee journalists across the UK to graduate with a full qualification across nearly 50 accredited centres, 144 trainees - or 40% - were taught by News Associates.
This was up on 30% (88 trainees) in 2009/2010.
We also boasted the best results in the country for the new industry-standard Diploma in Multimedia Journalism qualification.
And we are the only place in the UK where you can study part-time for your NCTJ journalism qualification, our unique 'earn while you learn' class has 40-week intakes (Monday nights and Saturdays) in January and September.
Our trainees regularly dominate the NCTJ’s Excellence in Journalism Awards. In 2012 News Associates trainees won an unprecedented four awards across a range of categories including news, features and scoop of the year.
Joanne Carter (now ESPN), Lindsay Watling (now Press and Journal) and Hannah Scott (now Sunday Times) have all won the NCTJ's top shorthand prize in the past three years.
And former winners of NCTJ Awards for Excellence in Journalism include Emily Koch (Bristol Evening Post), George Scott (Eurosport), David Jordan (Grimsby Telegraph) and Jessica Baldwin (Time Out).
In 2011 News Associates had trained more journalists who had qualified as senior reporters, via their NCE qualification, than any other training provider with our graduates now working on national and regional newspapers, local press, news agencies, magazines, TV, radio and public relations consultancies.
It's an unrivalled network on alumni that stretches around the world - with former trainees working in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Hong Kong and across Europe.
Our dedicated training team is committed to continued excellence, with a choice of training in either London or Manchester with the lowest course fee offered by any commercial provider.
If you add in our extensive industry contacts, the outstanding employment record of graduates and a mentoring relationship that goes beyond the boundaries of your time on the course, we are confident that you can’t make a better decision.
