James Toney is the Managing Editor at News Associates. He is responsible for an output of more than 30,000 stories a year to over 100 newspaper titles.
He started his career as a news reporter - securing his first national newspaper exclusive aged 19. His big break came we he negotiated an access all areas story to the Iranian Embassy in London, the first journalist to do so since the famous siege in 1980.
In 1998 he spent six months in Berlin after securing access to scores of classified files of the East German secret police, the Stasi. The resulting investigation produced a series of exclusives in the Mail on Sunday.
He worked with financial newspaper Sunday Business before becoming Managing Editor at News Associates.
James played a major role in the development of the NCTJ's sports journalism qualification and sits on the board to oversees its delivery at all accredited centres.
He is also a regular contributor to Sky News.
