We run regular short courses for those interested in a career in sports journalism. All courses are held in our London or Manchester training centres, just a short walk from main line train stations.

ON THE SCENE: Sportsbeat journalists provided over 20,000 stories to over 200 newspapers, covering nearly 40 sports during 2009
Occasionally our lecturers and speakers hold courses 'on the road' and even visit organisations, such as schools, colleges or community projects, on site. For example, News Associates has provided NVQ level media training for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United and the Professional Cricketers' Association.
Sportsbeat's Introduction to Sports Journalism (ISJ) course
This popular two-day course is run by the full-time sports reporters at Sportsbeat - the sports press service of News Associates.
It runs regularly throughout the year and is held on Fridays and Saturdays.
Many graduates from the course have moved on to our full-time, NCTJ-accredited, newspaper journalism course, while others have become a regular part of Sportsbeat's match reporters network - which every weekend covers more than 300 football and rugby matches across the United Kingdom.
The course - which has been praised by the Sports Journalists' Association - covers all the basics of sports reporting - match coverage, interviewing, news gathering and feature writing.
There are regular contributions from members of Sportsbeat's reporting team, who work in the newsroom that sits adjacent to our training centre.
The course costs just £195.
