Shorthand may not be an Olympic sport but it still gets pretty competitive at News Associates.
Every course sees trainees go head-to-head in a knockout competition - with bragging rights prized and a first round exit a humiliation.
Kelly Gerrish won the inaugural competition in London - beating red-hot favourite Jessica Stevenson in a nerve-jangling 100 words per minute final.
Shorthand purist Kim Lusher stormed into the most recent London final - but was undone by stylish dark-horse, Anna Lisinski, when it really mattered.
This week our Manchester trainees held their most recent final, with Beth Allock beating Lee Stansfield after turning in a near flawless transcript.
See Jill Geary’s report of the action here.
However, a familiar trend is developing. When it comes to shorthand, it seems girl power rules.
